Mid Week Slump, And Other News…

Needless to say, we’ve both been quite busy the past few weeks. Utterly consumed by the mundane working life and never ending uni assignments.

And here comes that dreaded mid-week slump, oh the perils of cramming all of ones classes into one dreaded Wednesday.

Not to mention the rain and typically Melbourne bipolar weather.

In other news…

The whirlwind which was vamff just passed and mbfw is currently unfolding, (sorry for the crazy lingo but thats Melbourne and Sydney fashion weeks for our global readers.)

We have also witnessed the opening of h&m in Melbourne’s historic GPO building (yes, we sadly waved goodbye to our beloved ACNE).

In the spirit of new stores, also make sure to check out the glorious A.P.C store in Melbourne’s QV. And typically, the first thing we did was put our names on the waiting list for that godsend of a half-moon bag.

Our favourite gem of a Mexican restaurant- Fonda has also just opened up a mammoth ester restaurant in Flinders Lane. We presume that this one will be without the soul crushing 30 min wait of its Windsor counterpart. Do stop by for some delicioso pork quesadilla’s and chicken burrito’s, and don’t skip on the tequila!

Also keep your eyes peeled for a very exciting collaborations in the coming weeks!

Goodness Gracious Me

Glow Baby Glow.

Contrary to how it may appear, finding that perfect balance of ‘glow’ when it comes to skin is not the most easy. Treading the thin line of shiny (yes, that dreaded word that has had us stuffing our bags with blotting papers), that fresh faced glow is made even more difficult for those cursed with combination to oily skins. One word; t-zone.

Never the less here is a combination of products all from Hourglass which we have been testing out to achieve that perfect finish, and have subsequently fallen in love with.

a. Hourglass “Nº 28 Primer Serum”

b. Hourglass “Veil Fluid MakeUp No 2”

c. Hourglass “Ambient Lighting Powder in Radient Light”

Louise Parker & Daiane Conterato

louise-parker-daiane-conterato-flair-2014-7 Meshing athleticism with sleek silhouettes (yes we have boycotted the phrase “luxe sportswear”), comes a gorgeous editorial for Flair Magazine‘s March 2014 issue. Hints of cult Nike sportswear can be seen hidden amongst layers of DKNY and Alexander Wang.

Lensed by English born Anthony Maule, both Louise Parker and Daiane Conterato are pictured donning new headwear/hair.

What a beautiful editorial.

Balenciaga Fall 2014

There was a lot going on in Alexander Wang‘s most recent Fall 2014 collection for Balenciaga, yet we have condensed it out to a couple of looks which left us drooling.

As purists at heart, here is our quite biased edit of the collection which is naturally devoid of any colour (yes, there is no sign of those canary yellow toggle coats here…).

The dominatrix style knee-high leather boots are key standouts in our edit, followed by the gorgeous grey cocoon shaped ribbed knits. Knitwear was a key element with some being embellished with shard like spikes, placed in a gradual effect as to form a dense covering near the collar.

Wang also utilised a large amount of felted black wool in his collection, working it into asymmetric hems and coats of all sorts. The looks were piled to perfection, with slim ever so leg elongating black pants being topped with layers upon layers.

With three seasons up his sleeve at the house, and much to show for it Wang has done us proud and will hopefully continue to do so.

GENERIC-TEMPLATETake some time from your mid-week routine and allow yourself to be engulfed by a montage of all of Wes Anderson‘s Emotional Slow Motion Shots rolled into one nifty flick.

It’s the perfect dose of melancholy, met with New Slang by The Shins. In other words, if you’re in the mood for it, it’s a tear jerker.
